Holiday 2008 Part I

After a busy holiday finally I can now update our site! So many things had happened this holiday season and I hope I can remember it all but I promise I'll try.

Christmas Parties. I suppose each of us grew up celebrating Christmas by having parties at school or at home wherein there are games, raffles and presentations. The best part of Christmas is having your friends and family around. Singing or dancing together and exchanging gifts. We miss home this Christmas but I must say we still had fun with our friends. Well, for those who have read my past journals you know that we became members of the Couples for Christ this year. Since then we had so many activities with our brothers and sisters and we are enjoying every part of it. We had attended two Christmas parties of CFC. The first one was our Unit Christmas Party last December 6, 2008 and the other one with the whole community of CFC Singapore last December 13, 2008. Our household were asked to prepare a dance number as part of our Unit Party's program. A week before the party was very hectic for us since most of the members are working and we need to find time to practice for our dance. It was tiring yet fun!

December 6, 2008. We really enjoyed our Unit Christmas Party. We had lots of games that we mostly participated and luckily won at least in one game hehe. We had exchange gifts. We had our presentation which I guess everybody enjoyed that's why they surprised us and told us that we were going to represent our chapter in the upcoming joined CFC Christmas Party. We were all shocked and at the same time pressured with that announcement but of course we accepted it with open arms hehehe ("Mahilig sumayaw"). We really had fun that day. We were laughing most of the time especially during games. We will definitely not forget Christmas 2008 because we really had fun with our brothers and sisters.

December 13, 2008. After the announcement last Dec. 6 that we're going to dance again we had to practice and add more formations on our dance so that it will look a little bit different from what we had showed them on our CFC unit party. The joined CFC Christmas Party was different from what we had last Dec. 6 though there were still few games, presentation and fellowship. We just sat there and watched and did not even finish the program since we decided to attend the mass which overlaps with the schedule of the Party.

Aside from Christmas there were other special occasions that we celebrated this holiday season and that I will tell you on the continuation of my journal...(to be continued hehe)

Second Sunday of Advent (Prepare The Way)

The gospel this Sunday is from Mark 1:1-8. Here's for your reflection:

This Sunday's readings tell us to prepare for the Lord - for whatever He wants to give us, do for us, or ask of us - by walking the straight path, the holy path, avoiding all sin.

Isaiah says: A voice cries out in the dessert! What is barren in your life , and dry, hot or empty? Bring to mind the sins you've done that dried up what should be fruitful.

What part of your journey on the path to heaven has been difficult? Bring to mind the sins that have been stumbling blocks or pits or ruts in the road.

Prepare the way of the Lord! Make it straight in the wasteland of your sins a highway for God. Go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and create a wider road into our heart that's easy for Jesus to travel, a through-way upon which He can arrive in great speed and glory.

All humankind is as frail as grass, and all our glory is like the flower of the field that withers and wilts. Only the word of our God stands forever.

Bring to mind your troubles and struggles. Here is where you are most vulnerable to sin. With the help of the holy spirit, consider these difficulties from the perspective of eternity. Are they really as bad - and as permanent - as they seem right now? What good is God raising up from these crosses?

Bring to mind the parts of your life that are going well. What activities are you doing that seem good and productive? Consider them from the perspective of eternity. Are any of them grassy glories? A hundred years from now, will waht you're doing today still have an impact - a beneficial impact?

What will their ever-widening ripple effect be doing a thousand years from now?

God has given you talents and a vocation for using them that are supposed to make a permanent difference by spreading His eternal kingdom across the earth. Are you wasting time? If so, take this to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and prepare yourself for the way of the Lord. He wants to make an eternal difference through you.
